WOODVILLE --Woodmore Elementary students are busy these days creating cards
and videos to cheer their fellow classmate, Jerhid Fegley. Advertisement
The fourth-grader is currently a patient in the Cincinnati Children's
Hospital and has been unable to attend classes this year.
Fegley is battling X-linked lymphoproliferative disease, a rare blood
disorder. He received a bone marrow transplant four weeks ago.
An infection occurred several days later causing him to spend a few days in
intensive care unit.
Now he is trying to regain his strength and overcome bone fractures caused by
steroids and stomach problems from his chemo treatments.
Fegley pushes himself to sit up for a few hours and walk a bit.
Fegley's mom, Michelle Prowant, stays at a local hotel where she is able to
be with him daily.
She says the well wishes from fellow Wildcats help to keep Fegley feeling a
part of his home school.
Kindergarten teacher, Marilyn McFarland was in Cincinnati Feb. 7 and 8 and
transported a huge get well card along with class cards and video of his fourth
grade classes.
The giant card is a joint effort by Woodmore High School industrial
technology teacher, Chad Miller; his students, Gavin Beard, Josh Beler, Emilio
Chavez, Michael Fahle, Brody Haar, Bill Kuhlman, Cody Lockhart, Max Schwander
and Adam Troilo; and elementary art teacher Denise Bortz.
An illness such as this causes great financial burdens on families.
Donations toward his family's expenses may be made at any Fremont Federal
Credit Union.
